Ivan L. Ray, 91, of Fort Dodge, died on Thursday, March 5, 2010, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 8th, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, with the Rev. Sunny Dominic officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery, Atlantic, IA. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., where there will be a vigil at 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Survivors include- son, Gary Ray and his wife Pat of Austin, MN; grandchildren, Conrad Ray and his wife Jennifer of Red Wood, CA, McKenzie Sloan and her husband Jeff of Decatur, IA; great grandchildren, Ella Ray and Lula Sloan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chris and Freda (Andersen) Ray; his wife Cleone in 2008; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
Ivan L. Ray was born March 31, 1918, in Marne, IA. He was raised and educated in Atlantic, IA. Ivan was united in marriage to Cleone Spies on June 29, 1942, in Omaha, NE. He then joined the U.S. Marines and served during WWII. After his honorable discharge, Ivan and Cleone moved back to Atlantic where the couple established their home. Ivan spent 35 years in the Baking and Distributing business, working for Colonial Baking Co. in Atlantic and Des Moines for several years. The couple then moved to Fort Dodge in 1958, where Ivan worked for Pan O Gold Baking Company as a sales manager. Metz Baking Company then purchased Pan O Gold Baking Company, where Ivan continued his career with Metz Baking Company, as an area sales manager, until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the American Legion. Memorials may be left to Hospice of Fort Dodge, 802 Kenyon Rd. Fort Dodge, IA 50501.
