Con was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Eugenie Genik, a native of Ukraine, and Charles Arthur Jones, a native of London, England. In 1916 the family immigrated to Goleta, California. Con attended schools in Goleta and graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1930. He then worked for Unmion Mill & Lumber Co. in Goleta until he joined the Army in 1943. He served in Germany during and after World War II and traveled extensively in Europe and Asia, on duty and for pleasure. He also traveled to many foreign countries after his retirement from the Army in 1963. Returning to Goleta, he worked for Raytheon Company as a Security Guard for several years. In his later years he retired to the "Old Soldiers' Home" in Washington, DC where he lived out his life.
