OBITUARY NOTICE: DUREN [no middle name] DANIELL, Jr., M. D.
Duren DANIELL, Jr., M. D., 68, a resident of Saint Simons Island and a member of Saint Simons United Methodist Church, died August 28, 2007 at his home.
Dr. Daniell was born on October 13, 1938 in Laurens County, Georgia. In 1965, he graduated from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta; completed an internship at Middle Georgia Regional Hospital at Macon; and was in the U. S. Army Medical Corp. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and several other commendations for valor while serving as a Battalion Surgeon in Viet Nam.
Before becoming a permanent resident of Saint Simons Island, he specialized in General and Orthopedic Surgery and was in Private Practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon. For the last 22 years, he has practiced Hospital Based Emergency Medicine in Southeast Georgia.
Dr. Daniell is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marye Drew Daniell of Saint Simons Island; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Ann Daniell and Dr. James V. Walters of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two nephews, Daniell V. Walters of Boise, Idaho and Erik C. and Meenu Walters and their son Caden A. Walters of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous cousins. His parents Duren, Sr. and Lois Keen Daniell of Dublin, Georgia predeceased him.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in the Chapel of the Saint Simons United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with The Reverend Alfred O. Daniell officiating.
Contributions may be made to the "Trees for Glynn" Fund, c/o the Glynn County Tree Board, Historic Courthouse, 701 "G" Street, Brunswick, Georgia 31520.

Interment at Arlington Cemetery, Washington, D. C. will take place at a later date.
