Funeral services for Lay Bryan, 81, a former Baltimorean and retired employee of the Veterans Administration will be held today at 11 A.M. in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Bryan was the son of Dr. James L.Bryan, Dorchester county superintendent of schools, and Mrs. Bryan. His brother, the late William H. Bryan, was a prominent merchandise broker of Baltimore.
Mr. Bryan moved here from Cambridge at an early age, working in the John E. Hurst & Co., then the oldest wholesale dry goods firm in Baltimore, later moving to Washington for work with the Veterans Administration. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
For the last 30 years Mr. Bryan made his home with his step-daughter's son, Col. John Hubesch, of Chevy Chase, Md. Though he was the last living member of a family of eleven, Mr. Bryan has numerous surviving nephews at Cambridge and in Baltimore.
Nieces in Baltimore include Mrs. Mason Wood and Mrs. Clifton Anderson. The nephews are Guy, Wallace and Lawrence Bryan.
