Clayton Jr., Powell: Of Arkansas. Appointed as a Second Lieutenant of Cavalry with the 5th United States Cavalry Regiment on January 13th, 1892; accepted the appointment on February 2nd, 1892; graduated from the Infantry and Cavalry School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1897; promoted to First Lieutenant of Cavalry with the 5th Cavalry Regiment on October 16th, 1898; promoted to Captain of Cavalry with the 11th Cavalry Regiment on February 2nd, 1901; unassigned on May 25th, 1913; assigned to duty on the General Staff on March 5th, 1913; promoted to the rank of Major of Cavalry, no date; died on December 27th, 1916, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Born on July 30th, 1871, in Arkansas; graduated from the Pennsylvania Military College in 1890; died on December 27th, 1916, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas; buried at the National Cemetery in Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.
