"Canfield – Mrs. Adda Chambers, 88, of 122 W. Main St., originator of a fashion revue featuring Godey's Lady's Book Creations and a former public health nurse for Mahoning County, died at 3 p.m. Thursday in Little Forest Nursing Home of a heart ailment. Mrs. Chambers, a resident here for 47 years, was born March 27, 1882, in Marchand, Pa., a daughter of Charles G. and Viola M. Mahaffey Hannigh. She was a graduate of Adrian Hospital, Punxsutawney, Pa., and trained in public health at Columbia University, N. Y.
Was War I Nurse
Mrs. Chambers served as a nurse during World War I and in Panama during the construction of the Panama Canal. She was a public health nurse in Mahoning County from 1923 to 1945. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Canfield, the Collectors Club of Western Reserve, Four-Four Club and Uxorita Club. Her husband, Albert Livian Chambers, to whom she was married in 1910, died 1913. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. H. L. Dinsmore of Canfield; two sons, Albert N. and George H., both of Canfield; a sister, Mrs. F. F. Monroe of Boardman, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Williams Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday."
