Henry Carl Lewis was one of 10 children of Phillip William and Martha Ann Shedd Lewis, all of whom lived over 70 years and six of whom lived over 90 years. He married Ola Lee Bates in the early 1930s and they had one daughter, Judith Elaine Lewis Tilley. Carl Lewis owned a nursery in Oklahoma City for many years. He was a life-long member of the Primitive Baptist Church, was an ordained Elder(Minister), and was Pastor of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City for many years.
