Columbia - Services for Duane B. Johnson, Jr., 59, of Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at State Street Baptist Church, officiated by The Rev. Dr. Pete Cassidy. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in North, SC. Pallbearers will be David Bost, Wayne Collins, Van Hoffman, H.T. Morgan, Dan Phipps, and Mike Smith. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to the ABC Sunday School Class c/o State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State St., Cayce, SC 29033. Mr. Johnson died Saturday, September 10, 2005. Born in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of Duane B. Johnson, Sr. and the late Nevelyn Mack Johnson. A longtime resident of Columbia, he was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Army from 1967-1969. He recently retired after 28 years of employment with Seibels Bruce, Policy Management, Mynd, Lockheed Martin, and more recently with Affiliated Computer Services. Mr. Johnson was a member of State Street Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Julia Stewman Johnson of Columbia; father, Duane B. Johnson, Sr. of Cayce; sisters, Beverly Chisolm of Cayce, Ann Addy Calk of Gaston; brother, Bruce Johnson of Columbia; seven nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
