CAYCE - Services for Nevelyn Johnson, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at State Street Baptist Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in North, officiated by Dr. Pete Cassidy. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith Sunday School Class. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Fund for Foreign Missions, c/o State Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998. Born in Gaston, she was a daughter of the late Newlin B. and Berlie Spires Mack. She was a member of State Street Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class, Hannah Plowden Mission Group, and the Young Hearts Senior Citizen Group.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Duane B. Johnson of Cayce; daughters, Beverly Chisolm of St. Augustine, FL, Ann Addy Calk of Gaston; sons, Duane B. Johnson, Jr. of Columbia, Bruce C. Johnson of Pelion; sister, Rebecca Mack of Dillsboro, NC; brothers, Bryce Mack of Jonnston, Robert Mack of Lexington, Joe Ben and Edward Mack, both of Gaston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by her sister, Margie Hutto.
