Robert E. "Bob" Schuermann, 76, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday February 28, 2010, at Living Well after a seven month battle with brain cancer. Bob worked in the steel industry for 56 years, and volunteered for Good Samaritan Hospice for the last eight years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Grisso Schuermann, of 50 years; also, daughters, Cathy (Barney) Boyle, of Richmond, Va., Laura (Bryan) Kraft, of Hickory, N.C.., and Lisa Schuermann, of Charlotte, N.C.; and two beloved grandchildren, Jack and Natalie Boyle, of Richmond, Va.; also, his brother, Col. William Schuermann, USAF-Ret., and wife, Sarah, of Williamsburg, Va.; sisters, Betty (Gene) Stiff, of Rock Hill, S.C., Bonny (Frank) Sparks, of Vinton, Va.; Bob's parents, the Rev. William and Gladys Schuermann predeceased him. Memorial services will be held at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church, Tuesday March 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Jeff Scott and Dr. Marvin Barbre officiating. Contributions should be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Rd. Roanoke, Va., 24018, or the Music Program at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church, 4165 Colonial Ave., Roanoke, Va., 24018.
