Jess A. Eacret, 83, 224 N. Cornelia St., died Friday night at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 1, 1889, in Hato, Iowa, and lived in Anthon and Oto as a child.
He served in the Army in France during World War I and came to Sioux City after returning from service.
He married Martha V. Bridget, June 18, 1927, at LeMars. She died in Sioux City in 1936.
He was a plumber for the Hardy, and later Johnson Plumbing and Heating and Scott Plumbing and Heating Companies until retiring in 1957.
He was a member of Monahan Post 64, American Legion, and Laurens C. Shull Post 580, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include a son, Harold of Sioux City; a stepson, Paul Mitchell of Santa Barbara, Calif., a half brother, Frank Eacret, and two half-sisters Mrs. John (Lucetta) Metcalf and Mrs. Sylvester (Golda) Ford, all of Sioux City and two grand-children.
The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.
