HEREFORD - Betty Lady, 73, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.

Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Hereford with the Rev. Kyle Streun officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.

Betty was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Castro County to Herman and Agnes Jones Buse. Betty is the only child of the Buse family who is born in Hereford, TX. She died there. She graduated from Hereford High School in 1955.

Betty married Wayne Lady on May 21, 1957, in Hereford. She was an original member of the Hereford C.A.S.A. Board, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hereford and loved working in the flower beds at the church. She worked for John McLean Insurance Agency, Hayes Beasley Insurance Agency, Ralph Owens and Associates, First National Bank, Bob Gentry, Marie Griffin, Ron Weishaar Commodities and All-star Sports Center before her retirement. She also was an active member of the La Madre Mia Study Club in Hereford. Betty was the "solid rock" of the Lady Family and the 2009 "Mother of the Year."

She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Lady; a son, Brian Lady of San Antonio; two daughters, Cynthia Modisette and husband Kerry of Shongaloo, La., and Alison Esqueda and husband Todd of Hereford; three brothers, Ronnie Buse of Sterling, Colo., Johnny Buse of Amarillo and David Buse of Bakersfield, Calif.; a sister, Mary Markham of New Braunfels; six grandchildren, Brandi Esqueda, Britni Esqueda, Jossalyn McDaniel and husband Derrick, Jacob Lady, Jackie McClure and Bob McClure; and two great-grandchildren, Kayden McDaniel and Jaycee Kilgore.

The family suggests memorials be to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX. 79106; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Inc., 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
