Samuel A. Chorpenning for many years a resident of this city passed away at his home Monday, September 1st, 1919 after an illness of short duration.

He was united in marriage to Martha Baker in Somerset county Pennsylvania Oct. 25, 1866 and to this union were born nine children: Harry F.; Annie E.; Mary E.; Simon F.; George A.; Daniel A.; Fannie S.; Harriett A.; and John H. Four of the children preceded their father to the better world.

In 1878, Mr. Chorpenning and family moved from Pennsylvania to Iowa where they remained for eight years. In March 1886, they came to Nebraska and located on a farm six miles north of Cozad. About 15 years ago they moved to Cozad and have resided here since that time.

November 6th 1913 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Smith.

Mr. Chorpenning was a Civil War weteran and member of the G. A. R.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday September 3rd conducted by Rev. Chas. Gomon and Elder B. M. Garton. Interment was made in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
