Maria was William's second wife. His first wife died either in childbirth or near the birth of their last daughter Maria in 1780. He married Maria Magdalena not long after and their first daughter was born 1782. Maria and William had his first son, Jacob and brought such joy to his sister that she gave a special bible to the boy. He and Maria had 9 children.
