Former Galesburg Resident buried Sat.
Edward I. Abbott of Plainwell, former Galesburg resident, died at the Reid nursing home in Kalamazoo last Wednesday, March 19. He was 89 and one-half years old. Funeral services were held at the Nagar and Clark funeral home in Galesburg on Saturday, March 22, at 2:30 p. m. Arrangements were handled by the Marshall funeral home, Plainwell. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, Galesburg. Mr. Abbott was born on Sept. 20, 1862, near Galesburg. He was the son of Rev. Norman and Lovina Abbott who came to Galesburg in 1861. He was the last of a family of four sisters and three brothers. He spent all of his life near Galesburg until 17 years ago when he moved to Plainwell, and has been a member of the Galesburg Methodist church since 1874. He is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Mabel Hathaway of Kalamazoo and Buela Abbott, Plainwell; two nephews, Harry Telfer of Richland and Dr. Arthur Millspaugh of Kalamazoo. Pall bearers at the funeral were old neighbors, Carl Alm, Fred Henson, Ross Wixson, Jay Newton, Rollin Olin and, Fred Beck. The Galesburg Argus march 27, 1952 page 1
