Lloyd George Johnson, 84, of Eau Claire, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Luther Hospital.
Lloyd was born on December 7, 1925, in the Town of Louisville, Dunn County, to Emil and Mathilda (Stensrud) Johnson. He was a graduate of Dunn County Normal High School. Upon graduation he joined the Navy for three years, serving upon the LST 711. He then served in the Army for three years, followed by 15 years with the Air Force.
Lloyd married Florence Sindelar on June 10, 1967, in Wabasha, MN. He worked for the City of Eau Claire in the Sewer and Water Department, retiring when he was 60. Lloyd enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and being with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and Epiphany Lutheran Church.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Florence; brother, Marion G. Johnson of Menomonie; sisters, Dorothy Wiedman of Onalaska, Sofia Selchert of Castlewood, SD; sisters-in-law, Alice Watland of Superior, Agnes Clark of Eau Claire, Leona Melsness of Eau Claire, and Elsie Gray of Eau Claire; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Myrtle Johnston; brothers, Lester and Clarence Johnson, John, Herman, William, Alfred and Elmer Watland.
The funeral service for Lloyd will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Russ Kampfer officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
