Esther Gordon, 91, longtime resident of Leonard, Minnesota, died on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at St. Benedict's Senior Community Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 17, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard, with the Rev. Dan Bowman officiating. Interment was at the Norway Lake Cemetery in rural Leonard.
Esther was born January 22, 1913 at Upham, North Dakota the daughter of Emma and Christian Benson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, grew up in Leonard, graduating from Clearbrook High School, and assisted her mother at Benson's Cafe until 1946 when she married Elmer Gordon. They raised one daughter and resided in Leonard.
Esther was active in Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was past WELCA president.
She volunteered at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook for many years. Esther became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in 2000. In May of 2001 she moved to St. Benedict's Senior Community Center in St. Cloud so she could be near her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Christie Gordon of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 1994, and two sisters, Blanch Tyler and Alyce Wendlandt.
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Society.
