Mrs. Gladys Vanhook, 86, of Springdale, Ark., died Oct. 11, 1994, at Springdale Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1907, at Whorton Creek, Ark., the daughter of Jessie Newton and Nancy Palestine Bolinger Stansell. She was a retired public school teacher, having taught 28 years in rural Madison and Carroll County. She was a member of the Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, the National Retired Teachers Association and the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Vanhook on Dec. 1, 1964.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and June Vanhook of Springdale; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, John and Kelley Vanhook of Springdale and Mark Vanhook of Springdale; three brothers, Creed Stansell of Hindsville, Leonard Stansell of Huntsville, and Dee Stansell of Valley Falls, Kan.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Garrison officiating. Interment was in the Clifty Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Joe Stansell, Forrest Stansell, Eddie Stansell, Cody Curtis, Fred Wiley and Autry Puryear.
