Nels E Nelson was born August 5, 1875, in Skåne Sweden and came to America at the age of two years with his parents and twin brother Andrew and came directly to the Ong vicinity, where the family settled on a homestead north of Ong. His father died in 1916 and his mother passed away in 1921.

He was married to Amrette Hart of Edgar in 1921. She passed away in June 1928.
Except for a short time spent in California and about two years with his brother Andrew at Saronville, Mr Nelson lived his entire life in America near Ong. He passed away November 9, 1941 at the home of his brother at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 5 days. Surviving are his brother Andrew, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Ong Gethsemane Lutheran church Wednesday with Rev J H Larson in charge. Mrs Lynn Benson sang "We Shall Sleep But Not Forever," Mrs Benson and Algot Peterson sang "Have Thine Own Way" and Mr Peterson sang "The City Four Square."

Pallbearers were Ed and Albert Nelson, Clarence and Ernest McCloughan, Joe Anderson and Paul Johnson. Interment was in the Stockholm cemetery.
