Born in Ashe County, N.C., May 1, 1874, Ellen Ashley McGuire was the daughter of Thomas "Tom" Ashley and Phoebe Shepherd (who later married Robert Seats).
Aunt Ellen was raised by Phoebe and her first husband Robert Seats. Grandpa Thomas Ashley and Phoebe were not married.
Ellen Ashley married William Harvey McGuire. On January 2, 1941, Beaver Creek, Wilkes County, N.C., Ellen Ashley McGuire, a widow, died at the age of 66. At the time of her death, she normally resided in Boomer, Wilkes County, N.C.
My Grandmother was Laura Ann Ashley and she was the daughter of Thomas M. Ashley and Cornelia Ann Owens. Ellen was her half-sister.
