Edward J.was the son of Margaret Jane POLK Teel and Wyatt Teel. The POLK family seemed related to almost everyone who was anyone in deep east texas politics, as well as to national figures like President James K. Polk. His father Wyatt, served in the civil war.

*Lucett Teel- b. July 28,1873, d.July 29, 1961; married DR. W. K. Freeman, b.Dec 31, 1870, d. Jun 7, 1927; both Lucett and husband are both buried in the Shiloh cem, outside of San Augustine, TX
*W.H.Teel - b.abt. 1875; married Lillie McLaurin
*Lucius Polk Teel - b.6-20-1878, d. 8-11-1951; married Maggie Lister
