Minerva was born December 26, 1853 to James H. Price and Mary [Last name unknown. She was quite possibly of Cherokee descent.] For the 1870 US Census she was living with her family in DeKalb County, Alabama.
She married William Michael Rufus Gray October 1, 1875 in nearby Dade, Georgia, and made their home in DeKalb County, Alabama where they lived until she died from tuberculosis January 8, 1883.
Minerva and William named their first child, James Almon Gray, born August 17, 1876, after her father “James” H. Price and his father, John “Almon” Gray. Sadly he died as an infant.
April 3, 1878 she gave birth to Loretta Jane Gray and then to William Kelly Gray January 25, 1880.
