Funeral services for John Conrad Hallum, longtime resident of Henderson County, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from Memory Chapel, Carroll-Lehr Funeral home.
Rev. O.W. Hooper was in charge of the services. Interment was in the Athens City Cemetery.

Mr. Hallum, 68, passed away Monday morning at a Jacksonville hospital. He had been in ill health since suffering a stroke eight years ago.

Born in Anderson County, he moved to Henderson County with his parents when he was 19 years old. He lived in the Mill Run community until last November when he moved to Athens with his daughter, Miss Elizabeth Hallum.

The deceased was a retired farmer and stockman at the time of his death. He was a member of the Methodist Church since childhood.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Hallum; one son, John M. Hallum of Dallas; five daughters, Miss Elizabeth Hallum, Mrs. Alice Childs and Mrs. Doris Bridge, all of Athens, Mrs. Ruby Miller of Tyler, and Mrs. Edna Gray Dillard of Grand Prairie; three brothers, Claude E. Hallum, R.P. Hallum and Ralph Hallum, all of Athens; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Murphy of Athens and Mrs. Hal Hulsey of Dallas; and six grandchildren.

John was the son of John Mitchell Hallum and Cornelia Rebecca "Connie" Erwin. He was a farmer. He married Edna M Woodson in about 1907. They had the following known children:
