She was born April 26, 1924 in Bokoshe, Okla. to Royal Ramsay and Nettie Lee (Jarman) Ramsay. She had lived in the Pottawatomie County area most of her life. She graduated from Poteau High School. On July 19, 1959 she married Lewis "Lou" Jordan in Shawnee. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1992.
During World War II she worked for Douglas Aircraft as a "bucker". She then worked as an operator for 42 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Gladys loved to compete in county fairs with her sewing abilities. She won many blue ribbons for her work. She loved to cook and had the touch to grow anything. She loved working with her woman's group.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters, Hazel Sellers, Mary Ramsay, Wretha Perryman, and Alveta Ott; one brother, Ralph Ramsay; and a son-in-law, Allen Yargee. Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Yargee of Newalla and Pat Jordan of Seminole; one special daughter, Laura Bixler of Seminole; one son, Jeff Jordan of Macomb; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Peacher of Saluda, S. C. and Loretta Duffield of Shawnee; and numerous other family members and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Colonial Estates Nursing Home for their kindness while caring for our mother during her illness.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Witten officiating.
