Bertha Manns, 91,of Rensselaer,Ind.,passed away Saturday, Feb.13,2010,in Parkview Haven, Francesville,Ind.
Bertha was born Nov.2,1918,in Magoffin County, Ky., to the late Came Bailey and Margaret Nee Wireman Bailey.
Bertha has been a resident of Rensselaer since 1940. On May 21, 1943, in Rensselaer she married Ernest Manns, who passed away in 1963.
She attended Magoffin County schools. Bertha was a homemaker and an owner of Manns Grocery Store for 17 years at Baileys Corner until 1966,when she suffered a stroke at the age of 48.
Bertha was also a member of Teaberry Hill Estates Church of Medaryville,Ind.
Bertha is survived by two daughters,Freeda (Tom) Arnett of Medaryville and Janett (Mike) Kingman of Rensselaer; a stepson, Orville (Ruby) Manns of Franklin, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Ernesteen Kleinow of California; three sisters, Pearl Patrick of Chelsea, Mich., Dollie Neeley of Belleville, Mich., and Erma Minix of North Judson, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; an infant son; a daughter, Beulah Richie; three stepsons; a brother; four sisters; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EST today, Feb. 16, 2010, at Teaberry Hill Estates Church in Medaryville with Pastor Elmer Conley officiating. Internment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Rensselaer.
