Bonham, Texas -- Graveside services for Thelma Cox Freeman, age 93, of Bonham will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 at the Moores Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Dickie Golden will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. She passed away at Seven Oaks Care Center in Bonham, Texas on Sat. Feb. 5, 2005.
Mrs. Freeman was born on December 26, 1911 in Gober, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Alice Turpin Cox. She was an identical twin to Elma Cox Eldridge, who preceded her in death on August 27, 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings, Ora Cox, Jim Cox, Gertie Peterson, Ruby Fennell, Gracie Cunningham, Tom Cox Jr., Laudys L. Hill, Vera McDonald and Elma Eldridge. She married David Freeman in 1934 and she lived in Nashville, Tennessee for a number of years, also Cape Girardeau, Missouri while managing Dress Shops and Beauty Salons, before coming back to Texas in the early 1960's where she worked at Gibson's and Texas Instruments in Sherman. She was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School class and the Calvary Baptist Church in Bonham.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jim Clark of Bonham, Son and daughter-in-law, Paul D. and Betty Freeman of Oil City, Louisiana. Granddaughters, Debbie Carter of Bonham, Jan Stewart of Rhome, TX, Tammy Grant of Nampa, Idaho, Pam Ulmer Pyle and Jennifer Freeman, both of Lubbock, TX, Grandson, Paul D. Freeman Jr. also of Lubbock, two step-grandchildren, Mary Pineda of Hail Center, TX, and Earl Walker of Oil City, La., 13 great-grandchildren, and several great step grandchildren and also a number of great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
