Lottie was born on September 27, 1925, to Franklin Griffith and Celia Gray Griffith in Pine Grove, VA. She grew up in the Stanley area with her brothers Glen and Richard and sister Pauline. After graduating from high school, she worked various jobs in the food and service industries.
In 1944, Lottie met James Walter Edward Willis, Sr. ("PawPaw") at a diner in Front Royal, VA and they were married on March 23, 1946. MawMaw and PawPaw went on to have 10 children, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Lottie is survived by her daughters Joan Marie Lowery, Patricia Ann Mullins, Lana Faye Hair, Pamela Kaye Goodman, Karen Sue King, and Sheri Lynn Hiatt.
Lottie is preceded in death by her sons James Walter Edward Willis Jr. (Jimmy), Robert Adrian Willis, and Jeffrey Franklin Willis, as well as her daughter Deborah Jean Kaumans.
MawMaw loved family, her longtime love Richard Allen Meadows ("Poppy Jim"), a good meal, country music, flowers, a clean house, a visit or phone call with family and friends, and her beloved kitties Red Pie and Snow White. She will be remembered for her sharp mind, silver hair, neighborhood curiosity, conversations and indecisiveness on dinner decisions, and friendships with lifelong neighbors.
A special thank you goes out to the caregivers and medical personnel who provided love and care to MawMaw during her last years.
