She was born Nov. 13, 1922 in Hoopeston to Chester and Mary Jane Phipps Allison. She married Louis B. Burgess Sr. and later married Reed Rouse. They both preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Louis B. Burgess Jr.; two daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Alden and Gayle (Tom) Mann; one sister, Marjorie Malloy; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded by two brothers and three sisters.
Mary had worked at the Windbreaker Jacket Factory for 10 years, and in the food service department at Lakeview Hospital for 10 years. She also was a secretary at DACS. She enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers and her volunteer work at the Danville Food Pantry.
