"Eli Nichols Died Sunday"

Eli Nichols passed away Sunday afternoon about three o'clock at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. G M Nichols, at the age of 20 years. Death followed an illness of just five weeks of typhoid fever. Morris Morgan, cousin of the deceased left Monday evening with the remains for Salem, Illinois, where internment will be made.

Eli was a brother of Monroe Nichols who died at his home in Moorcroft 1/21/1917. Eli was then working in Montana and came to Moorcroft and returned to Salem with the remains of his brother. He came back with Mrs. Nichols to aid her in straightening up her affairs and soon after was taken down with typhoid, contracted while away. He was believed to be improving last week and the news of his death was a shock to the community. The death of Eli was the third death in the family within nine weeks, his father John R Nichols having passed away at the family home in Salem on March 1, of typhoid.
