William R. Bryant died February 18, 2000, after a sudden illness. He was a retired electrician and a member of Open Door Baptist Church. He had been a deacon since 1957. He served in the US Army for eight years and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Tupelo Chapter of the DAV and the VFW in Illinois.

Services were held at the Jefferson Street Chapel of WE Pegues with the Rev. Danny Dabbs, his nephew, and the Rev. Frank Cayson officiating. Burial was at Lee Memorial Park in Verona.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Bryant of Tupelo; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jim Bryd and his granddaughter, Belinda Byrd.
