Gladys Martin, 72, of Shelbyville, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Kindred Hospital Indianapolis South.
Born Feb. 14, 1938, in Fonthill, Ky., she was the daughter of Herbert and Elva (Meece) Wilson. She married William L. Martin, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Bunch of Jamestown, Ky., Beverly Adkins and Elva C. Sissco, both of Shelbyville, and Una Aulby of Kentucky; sons, Rodger Martin of Waldron and Terry Martin of Indianapolis; brothers, James Wilson, Wilkie Wilson and Phillip Wilson, all of Kentucky; sister, Martha Clayton of Kentucky; 18 grandchildren, including Kamilah Martin her caregiver; and seven great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, three sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and retired laundry worker.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading and listening to country music.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Humphrey officiating.
Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gladys Martin Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
