Retired Hurleyville Teacher Fannie B. Wood Dies
Oneonta - Fannie Bertha Wood of Oneonta, formerly of Hurleyville, a retired school teacher at the Hurleyville school system from 1923 to 1961, and a 40-year resident of the area, died Saturday, Dec. 11, at Oneonta Nursing Home, Oneonta. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Andrew Z. and Ethel Thurston Carleton, she was born Aug. 13, 1899 in New Lisbon. She was the widow of Howard Wood. She was a member and treasurer of Hurleyville United Methodist Church; a member of the Liberty Grange; a member of the Beaverkill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; a member of the Sullivan County Retired Teachers Association; and a member of the Oneonta Alumni Association.
Survivors include one sister, Mina E. Rose of Edmeston; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hurleyville United Methodist Church, Hurleyville. The Rev. Richard Moore will officiate.
Burial will be in Hurleyville Cemetery, Hurleyville.
