William, age 26, registered for the WWI draft on June 5, 1917. He was working as a druggist for Huntley Drug Company to help support his mother. His physical description was medium built & height, blue eyes, & brown hair. His signature was "William Madison Hamilton." He was called to serve in the War.
He was married to Ella Margaret Cross (daughter of Truman Dow & Maggie Etters Cross).
William later became one of the owners of Huntley Drug Company, retiring in 1954.
He was hospitalized in the Oregon City Hospital ten days before his death on Oct. 20, 1958, at age 68. He was buried in Portland, OR, in Portland Memorial, a historic cemetery that had been started in 1901.
Ella died in Clackamus Co, OR, on December 7, 1986.
