James Edward Walden, CMSGT U.S. Air Force (Retired) passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Acosta-Rua Center for Caring, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on July 25, 1929 in Rocksprings, Alabama and moved to Jacksonville as a young boy.

He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and joined the USAF. He was proud to serve and defend his country and retired after more than 26 years of service.

Jim was devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janie Walden; three daughters: Cindy Harrington (Kim), Lynn Walden, Debbie Yankowicz (Bill) and one son Craig Walden (Analorena); nine grandchildren: Jim, Michelle, Doug, Maurice, Renee, Brent, Laura, Amanda, James; Eight great-grandchildren: Tori, Jaime, Blake, Jalen, Michael, Talon, Peyton, and Xander; one sister Gladys Wright and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life for family and close friends will be held on Thursday, February 18 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the family home.

Service will be held at Franklin St. Baptist Church located at 2521 Franklin St., Jax, FL 32206 on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a military graveside service at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville Florida at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. Arrangements by Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd.
