Charles T. Canada, 1219 Ninth street, Bedford, passed away at 10 a.m. today at Dunn Memorial Hospital, where he had entered February 1. He was 70.
Mr. Canada had been in failing health four years. He was born to James and Susan Brown Canada October 2, 1892, at Burnside, Ky. He retired five years ago as a diamond sawyer for Indiana Limestone Company in Bedford. He married Mary Anderson October 2, 1912, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Charles M. Canada, Bedford, R.R. 5; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Moneva) Butler and Mrs. Chester (Vaunda) Hert, both of Bedford; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Milton Canada of Sioux Falls, S. Dakota, Joe Canada of Cincinnati, Ohio, Luther Canada of Frazier, Ky., and Gilbert Canada, Bedford, R.R. 4; four half-brothers, Hurstle Canada of Brownstown, Ind., Ernest Canada of R.R. 2, Somerset, Ky., Jesse Canada, Frazier, Ky., and Lucien Canada, Oberlin, Ohio; two half-sisters, Mrs. Raymond New of Amherst, Ohio, and Mrs. Sam Roberts of Monticello, Ky. One granddaughter, Mrs. Pauline Fitzgerald, preceded him in death.
Final rites will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary, with Rev. Raymond Reuter and Rev. John Buttz, Bedford First Church of God pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Day & Carter Mortuary, which is in charge of arrangements.
