BOY OF FIFTEEN DROWNED IN DITCH
Thursday evening, about 8:30, while changing boards in a large irrigating ditch near Hygiene, Johannes Drieth, aged 15 years, was seized with an epileptic stroke and fell head first into the weir box and was drowned in a few inches of water.
Considerable time elapsed before the body was found after the accident. Dr. Kincaid was hurriedly called from Lyons and did everything possible to restore life but without success.
The boy was employed on the Sanford Buster farm. He was of Russian parentage and had resided in this section about four years. He is survived by a brother, Henry Drieth of Hygiene; Lucas Dreith of Oklahoma; David Drieth of Loveland; and Joe Drieth of Oklahoma.
The funeral was held Saturday from the M.G. Rice chapel, Rev. Busch officiating. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Mother, Katherine Donis Drieth, died in Russia.
