“DIED, At Killingworth (North Society) on the morning of the 3d ult. after a long and useful life in the office which he sustained, and in the faith of a glorious immortality, Deacon ABEL WILCOX, in the 75th year of his age, and 34th of his office. He lived beloved, and died lamented by the followers of Jesus Christ. He left six children to mourn the loss of an affectionate father. His remains, on the Sunday following, were committed to the grave, in presence of a numerous concourse of people, and a sermon well adapted to the occasion, was preached by the Rev. Josiah B. Andrews, from 1 Samuel, 20th chapter, and part of the 3d verse—'Truly as the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.'”
