Mary was the oldest of 20 (yes 20) children. She was born to Robert Williams and his first wife Elizabeth Wright.
Mary's first marriage was to have taken place on 13 November 1817 to Aaron McCrae. Unfortunately I have no documentation to back this up except the words written in Portrait and Biographical Album of Louisa Co Iowa. (Acme Publishing. Chicago, 1889) Some say there was at least one child from this union. Unable to prove this.
Mary's second marriage on 23 October 1821 (location unknown) was to Nathaniel Dunham, son of Sylvannus and Ursula Dunham. Ursula had come to what became Nichols New York shortly before the death of what is said to be her brother Caleb Wright. Nathaniel was thought to have died before the Williams family moved to Louisa County, Iowa. But have discovered a Louisa county land purchase record where one of Nathaniel's brothers-in-law purchases land formerly owned by N. Dunham, deceased. No guarantee of the same N. Dunham, but conspicuous.
Mary and Nathaniel had two children, a very solid record for son Sylvanus Dunham who is buried at Bethel Cemetery, Bethel, Louisa Co, IA, and probable daughter Ursula (daughter of N. and M. Dunham) who is buried here at Tennessee Cemetery.
Mary's father is buried at Bretz Cemetery in Louisa County, Iowa (see link below for more info about him). Mother Elizabeth Wright is said to be the daughter of Caleb Wright, a pioneer settler along the Susquehanna at where now stands Nichols, New York (Caleb is known as the miller who erected the first sawmill in Tioga County, NY in 1791 according to info submitted by FindAGrave contributor #47890665 who has shared a great deal of valuable information about this family). Elizabeth died in about 1824 and is likely buried somewhere in Fayette, Indiana. Robert's second wife was Elizabeth Hart (no further info on Elizabeth).
Although the burial location for husband Nathaniel is unknown, the burials for his parents are known. His father is Corporal Sylvannus Dunham. His mother is Ursula Dunham late of Nichols, Tioga Co, NY.
