Mrs. Maretta Coon, Salem Resident, Dies
Mrs. Maretta J. Coon, 71, Salem, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cecil Elyea, with whom she resided, after a long illness due to a heart ailment.
She was born Feb. 15, 1887, in Mankato, Minn. Mrs. Coon moved to Backus, Minn., at the age of eight and to Salem in 1941.
She was a member of the Salem Methodist Church and formerly was employed by U.S. Standard Products Corp., Woodworth, for eight years.
Survivors besides her daughter include two sons, Weslie, of Backus; Leslie, Keosaqua, Iowa; a brother, Laurence Conwell, Seattle, Wash; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Noyes, Mankato, Mrs. Mary Ryder, Truman, Minn., Mrs. Barbara Barnes, and Mrs. Arlene Tike, both of Seattle; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Strang Funeral Home, Antioch, at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Carroll Usher of the Salem Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery near Salem. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today.
