Funeral services will be held at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Helaire Trahan, Sr. 92, who died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday , April 20, in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
The Rev. Gilbert Dutel, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Scott, will be celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the services.

Survivors include three daughters, Nell Rose Roger and Joyce Meche and husband, Newton, both of Scott and Verna Mae Bearb of Ossun; one son, Helaire Trahan, Jr. and wife Betty of Scott; and 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Babineaux Trahan; his parents, two great-grandchildren, Brookes and Khodi Meche; five sisters Helena Guidry, Cecile Comeaux, Fedora Comeaux, Amanda Brasseaux and Marie Roger, six brothers, Octave, Leo, Adam, Oscar, Honora and Andrew Trahan; four half brothers, Albert, Paul, Neville and Philebert Trahan; two half-sisters, Sylvia Lantier and Donatile Domingue, and two son-in-laws, Harold Roger and Louis Bearb.

A native of St. Landry Parish and a resident of Scott for 65 years. Mr. Trahan was the son of the late Theovide Trahan and the former Anna Wise, both natives of St. Landry Parish.

He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic community in Scott and the Holy Name Society.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday (April 24, 2000) in the Scott funeral home.
