A. R. Forsyth president of the First National Bank died on July 14, 1892 at age 82.
Mr. Forsyth born in New Jersey and came to this county when a young man, acting as clerk in the Freeman dry-goods store. In 1856 be organized the first private bank in this city (Greensburg, Indiana). During the war he organized the First National, and had been its president.
At the time of his death he held $80,000 of its stock.
He was a public spirited man, and helped new industries with his money.
He was quite wealthy, and owned an interest in the iron mines of Tennessee.
For many years he was one of the directors of the Big Four railway. He bad been in poor health for several years.
