Joan Louise Hoins the daughter of Lue Sr. and Gladys (Schnieber) was born July 12, 1932 on a farm in Webster County, Nebraska near Red Cloud. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 09, 2010 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 77 years.

Joan attended rural elementary schools near Guide Rock, NE. She graduated from Guide Rock High School with the class of 1950. Following graduation she taught school at a country school north of Guide Rock for one year.

On July 12, 1951 Joan was united in marriage to Ralph Hoins at the Methodist Church in Red Cloud, NE. To this union four children were born, Linda, Richard, Pat and Christi.

Following her marriage Joan lived in Guide Rock; Richlands, North Carolina and then on a farm northeast of Guide Rock. Joan and Ralph moved to Superior in February of 1998.

Joan was a member of the Guide Rock Baptist Church, where she was baptized on July 12, 1959. She taught Sunday School for many years. She held several offices in the church, Sunday School and Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the W.C. Club holding several offices and the Rebecca Lodge #180 IOOF, where she held several offices. She was serving as Secretary at the time of her death.

Joan loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved doing crafts and puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Dorothy Chapman, two brothers, Wayne Etherton and Jim Etherton, son Richard and son in law Terry Morris.

Survivors include her husband Ralph of Superior, NE; three daughters: Linda Frank and husband Bob of Norfolk, NE: Pat Springer and husband Ron of Superior, NE; Christi Hoins of Superior, NE; six grandchildren: Melany Hilton and husband Brian; Jeremy Kratke and wife Nickey; Richard Morris and wife Amy; T.J. Morris and wife Kendra; Tami Miller and husband Christopher and Lisa Frank; four step grandsons: Chris Springer and wife Kim; Neil Springer, Eric Springer and wife Jennifer and Travis Frank; 12 great grandchildren: Aaron and Kaylee Hilton; Justina, Jaslyn and Jalysa Kratke; Lane and Chase Morris, Trenton, Ezra and Clayton Moris; Malyn and Tiernan Frank; and 8 step great grandchildren: special nieces Amy Moler and Becky Thomas and husband Ryan; one brother Lue Etherton Jr of York, NE; other nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt Marie Bauer of Lincoln, NE.

Funeral services will be held this Friday 2:00 PM, February 12, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Guide Rock, NE. Pastor Floyd Richardson will be officiating. Burial will be held at the Guide Rock, NE. Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
