Mr. Harold N. Gingrich, Sr., 75, a guest of Laurel Run Nursing Home, Fayetteville and formerly of Mt. Vernon Terrace, Waynesboro died at 12:00 P.M. Monday October 30, 2006 in the nursing home.

Born November 17, 1930 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late G. Nelson and Mary Adell (Rinehart) Gingrich. He lived most of his life in the Waynesboro area.

He graduated from the Waynesboro High School with the class of 1948.

He and his wife, Dorothy May (Albright) Gingrich, were married November 25, 1950 in Greencastle, PA. They had lived many years in the Wayne Heights area and in Mt. Vernon Terrace from 2001-2006. Mrs. Gingrich currently resides in Rose Manor, 120 W. Main St. Waynesboro.

Mr. Gingrich was an Electronic Specialist for most of his life. He was involved with the design and production of guided missile systems and aircraft navigational equipment working with Fairchild Aircraft, in Hagerstown, Letterkenny Army Depot, and Fort Ritchie. In later years, he worked in law enforcement as a police officer with the Washington Township Police Department where he later became Department Chief.

He was a life member of Mechanics Steam Fire Engine and Hose Company #1, Waynesboro.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Deborah K. Wallech, Hagerstown, Jacqueline Ann Lipscomb, Charlestown, WV; one son, Harold N. Gingrich, Jr., Greencastle; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Mary Rosenberger, Little Egg Harbor, NJ; two brothers, Paul Gingrich, Blue Ridge Summit, Charles Gingrich, Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Grace Gingrich and one brother, Glenn Gingrich.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with burial in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

There will be no public viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers with memorial contributions made to Mechanics S.F.E. and Hose Co. #1, 10 Virginia Ave., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are being handled by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
