STAMFORD -- Ernest Edward Armstrong, 75, of Venus, Texas, and formerly of Stamford, died Monday in Venus.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Kinney Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery in Ericksdahl.

Mr. Armstrong was born in Lueders and graduated from Stamford High School. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Hardin-Simmons University. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Lorene Mueller in 1955 in Stamford and moved to Rotan, where he taught school until retiring. He moved to Venus in 1996 from Rotan and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Venus; two sons, Keith Armstrong of Venus and Dennis Armstrong of Fort Worth; one brother, Oscar Armstrong of Stamford; three sisters, Pauline Watt, Cordie Ekenstam and Helen Gentry, all of Stamford; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
