Jennie Watts, 88, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. After her valiant fight with Parkinson's, her love for people, faith in God, with the love of her family, friends and the caregivers at Country Elegance she gracefully managed her illness.

Jennie Pauline Armstrong was born August 27, 1929 in Shackelford County, Texas to the union of Edward and Ruth Beck Armstrong. She was one of eight children in the Armstrong Family including sisters: Cordelia, Grace, Viola, Helen, brothers: Fred, Ernest, and Oscar.

Jennie was a lifetime resident of Shackelford and Jones Counties. She completed her 8th grade education at Berryhill School and graduated from Stamford High School in 1945. She attended Hardin Simmons College. Jennie worked at First National Bank in Stamford, Lueders-Avoca School and retired for Big Country Electric Coop.

Jennie married Jack Hager on July 21, 1951. This union was blessed with three sons; David, Jay and Merrick. Jack preceded her in death on July 28, 1968. She married John Dodd on June 16, 1979 and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1980.

Jennie had a remarkable sense of humor, contagious laughter and a friendly smile. She was a loving and caring mother for her sons and their families.

Survivors include three sons, David Hager and wife Kay of Lueders, Jay Hager and wife Joan of Stamford and Merrick Hager and wife Tiffany of Lubbock; a brother Oscar Armstrong and wife Sherry of Stamford; 8 grandchildren, Leslie Neve and husband Logan, Krystal Hobbs and husband Derrick, Shayla Teichelman and husband Toby, Ross Hager and friend Cortney, Marissa Gould and husband Steven, Bailey Tyler and husband Byron, Kelsey Hager and Brady Hager and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Cordelia Ekenstam, Grace Blankinship, Viola Armstrong, Helen Gentry; brothers, Fred Armstrong and Ernest Armstrong.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with the Rev. Richard Strait officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20th from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 S. Columbia Street) Stamford, Texas.
