Adam Ege, was 13 years old and the third son, of Barnard Ege when he came to America on the ship "Nancy and Friendship" Sept. 20, 1738. He found a home in New Jersey, to learn the manners and customs of the new land, and also to learn to be a farmer. His new friends were John Hobbs and wife, of Amwell Township, Hunterdon County. They became friends indeed; gave him a good education for the times, and in 1759, being without children, for a small sura in hand, they gave him, as their heir, deed for the home and farm. His brother, Martyn Ege, and the fourth son, was witness to this deed. In 1748, he married Margaret Hunt, daughter of Thomas and Hannah Pierson Hunt. Thus began the New Jersey line of the Ege family.
