Ole Hommen, 77 Luverne, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at the Hospice Cottage in Luverne.

A memorial service was Wednesday, March 1, in First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. The Rev. John Pherson officiated. Burial of remains was in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.

Ole Hommen was born to Ole and Lena (Stensland) Hommen on June 24, 1922, in Vienna Township, Rock County. He attended Luverne High School. He entered the U.S. Army and served in combat in the European Theater during World War II.

He married Ruth Roberts on June 12, 1948, in Luverne. After their marriage the couple lived in Luverne where they lived all of their married lives. He worked in law enforcement in Rock County for 34 years. He was sheriff of Rock County for 20 years.

Mr. Hommen was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Luverne, the Elks, Luverne VFW and Luverne American Legion. He was also past president of the Minnesota State Sheriffs Association.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hommen, Luverne; two sons, Jim Hommen and special friend, Terri Zimmerman, Chevy Chase, Md., and Jack Hommen and his wife Pam, Fargo, N.D., one grandson, Andy Hommen, Fargo; one granddaughter, Alicia Hommen, Littleton, Colo., on great-grandson, Jackson Charles McCullum, Littleton; and one sister, Gurina Meyer, Luverne.

Mr. Hommen was preceded in death by his parents, three half-brothers, Aanen Aanenson, Alvin Aanenson and Joseph Aanenson, three half-sisters, Annie McClure, Josephine Kuehl, and Thelma Wallace.

Holm-Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne, was in charge of arrangements.
