Gurina Meyer, 84, Luverne, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at the Luverne Community Hospital.

Services were Monday, Aug 2, at Grace Lutheran Church. The Revs. Maurice Hagen and Dell Sanderson officiated. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Gurina Hommen was born to Ole O. and Theolena (Barstad) Hommen on May 30, 1920, in Vienna Township, Rock County. She attended school in Luverne. She lived in Rock County all her life.

She married George Zoellner on July 2, 1944, in Luverne. Mr. Zoellner died on Oct 5, 1952.

She married Harold O. Meyer on Aug. 25, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. Mr. Meyer died on June 17, 1981. She worked as a dental assistant for a few years before her second marriage. After her second marriage, they lived on a farm in Kanaranzi Township for many years until they moved to Luverne. She became a resident of Centennial Apartments in 2003.

Mrs. Meyers was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. She was active in ladies' circles and other committees in church. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking and making lefse.

Survivors include one son, Rick (Donna) Zoellner, Beaver Creek; two grandchildren, Todd (Collen) Zoellner, and Tricia (Matt) Wingert; three great-grandchildren, Ryanna, Taylor and Jacob; four sisters-in-law, Ruth Hommen, Hills, Lorraine Weiss, Kanaranzi, Chris Zoellner, Sioux Falls, and Lois Schneekloth, Hartford, SD.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one brother, Ole Hommen, two stepfathers, three half-sisters and three half-brothers.

Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne, was in charge of arrangements.
