Son of Benjamin Taylor Ayers Sr (1778-1858) and Mary Hannah Young (1807-1874)

David F Ayers married Priscilla Miller on January 1, 1866 in Pennsylvania. To this union was born the following children Minerva Ellen Ayers, Benny Ayers, William Miller Ayers, Ludwick Miller Ayers, Sarah E "Sadie" Ayers, Samuel Christian Ayers, Effie Jane Ayers, Susie Ayers.

Priscilla died August 14, 1913.

David later married the widow Mary Jane (Durst) Martin on June 28, 1915 in Sabetha, Nemaha County, Kansas. No children were born to this union.

David served as a volunteer in the Civil War in Company H Regiment 211 Pennsylvania Infantry.

David was involved in farming and at his death he was a retired farmer.
