According to a letter written by Alexanders nephew, Pinchback Taylor, Jr., dated, March 20, 1947:
"Alexander and Jane Pinchback moved to Dallas Co. Arkansas in 1856, bringing their slaves, stock and valuables. A home was built by the slaves and they established a post office at PINCHBACK Mills, 30 miles from Pine Bluff."
"Alexander acquired a large tract of farm and timber lands as well as property in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. In 1891 my Grandparents, Mary Cornelia Pinchback Taylor and Elisha Bunyan Taylor, with their family moved to Pine Bluff and occupied the home which had been owned by my GreatGrandfather, Alexander. This site at 420 West Fifth Avenue, is where my home now stands."
On a search of the Tax and Deed Records in the county Court House in Fordyce, Arkansas, it appears that Alexander owned a lot of land in the Dallas County area. Nearly every page you turn to has the name PINCHBACK written there. Also found in the "Arkansas Swamp Land Sales, 1879 - 1921" compiled by Desmond Walls Allen is the name of Alexander Pinchback.
Alexander is also found in the Land Records of Cleveland Co. Arkansas as owning land in 1860.
Alexander PINCHBACK is named as being among the early settlers of Dallas County, Arkansas. There was a Post Office at a place called, "Pinchback Mills" outside of Carthage, Arkansas, now called Saline. There are only a couple of houses at the site now.
